Spes For Community operates within Kasese Municipality, empowering adolescents and young women in urban suburbs to better their lives. We do this through advocacy, providing education scholarships, mentoring, vocational & entrepreneurial skills and creating awareness about sexual reproductive health and rights.
about us
Spes for Community was founded by Masika Meresi in 2022, years after Masika became a single mother of two boys.
Masika lost her job immediately after becoming a single mother. She didn’t give up on her dreams of empowering and advocating for women and adolescents' formal education because she believed that, despite all the challenges, solutions to our problems lie within us so she turned to GOD for strength and help.
Living in her community for over 30 years, Masika witnessed extreme poverty, gender inequality, unemployment among illiterate women, high rates of school dropouts, and high rates of teenage pregnancy.
